Who will be the New CDS Of India: After the death of General Bipin Rawat in a helicopter accident, the government will soon initiate the process of a new CDS of India. Army Chief General MM Naravane is at the fore in the race for the post of CDS. The government is taking this action after several retired army commanders say that appointing General Naravane (Who is Next CDS Of India) would be a prudent move, as his due date of retirement from the post of army chief within five months. People who are aware of this matter told on Thursday that the government will form a committee of senior commanders of the Army, Navy and Air Force. The committee will be finalized on the basis of the recommendations received from the three services within the next two three days and then it will be sent to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh for approval.

Once the DEfence MInister gives his assent, the names will be sent to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet for consideration, which will make the final decision on the name of the next CDS of India. This information was given by people familiar with the matter. He said that from the Chief of Integrated Defense Staff to the Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee, the committee would coordinate the process of deciding the probable candidates for the post of CDS.

He is currently serving as the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS).

Who is General Manoj Naravane: General Manoj Mukund Naravane PVSM AVSM SM VSM ADC is currently serving as the 27th Chief of the Army Staff (COAS). He has succeeded General Bipin Rawat on 31 December 2019.

General MM Naravane was born on 22 April 1960 in Pune, Bombay State, India. His father Mukund Naravane was a former officer in the Indian Air Force who retired as a Wing Commander and his mother Sudha was an All India Radio announcer.

General Naravane did his early schooling at Gyan Prabodhini Prashala, Pune. He went to National Defense Academy, Pune, Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Defense Services Staff College, Wellington and Army War College, Mhow.

General MM Naravane completed his MA in Defense Studies from Madras University, Chennai. degree and M.Phil. Degree in Defense and Management Studies from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in Defense and Strategic Studies from Punjabi University, Patiala.

General MM Naravane: Military career

Naravane was commissioned into the 7th Battalion of the Sikh Light Infantry in June 1980. In his distinguished military career spanning over 40 years, he has held various positions ranging from Inspector General (North) to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and is now at the forefront for the post of CDS.

Manoj M Naravane commanded the 2nd Battalion (Sikhli) of the Rashtriya Rifles in Jammu and Kashmir, 106 Infantry Brigade, and the Assam Rifles as Inspector General (North) at Kohima, Nagaland. He also served in anti-terrorist operations in Jammu and Kashmir and Northeast India during Operation Pawan and in the Indian Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka.

His staff assignments include stints as Brigade Major of an Infantry Brigade, AA and QMG of Headquarters Establishment No. 22, Military Attache to Myanmar at Yangon, Instructional Appointment at Army War College, Mhow and two terms at the Integrated Defense Staff Headquarters of the Ministry Are included. After being promoted to the rank of lieutenant general, he commanded the Kharga Strike Corps based at Ambala and served as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Delhi region. As GOC, he had commanded the 2017 Republic Day Parade.
