1. Sixth BRICKS Film Festival Awards 2021 Announced

The 6th edition of the BRICS Film Festival awards has been announced at the 52nd International Film Festival of India in Goa. BRICS Film Festival for the first time alongside IFFI from November 20 to November 28, 2021. The Jury for this competitive festival had 5 members, one from each of the BRICS countries. The Jury selected the awards under five categories after examining twenty films.

Awardees of 6th BRICKS Film Festival:

  1. South African Film 'Barakat' and Russian Film 'The Sun above Me Never Sets' shared the Best Film Award in the Sixth edition BRICS Film Festival.
  2. Brazilian Filmmaker Lúcia Murat' was awarded the Best Director for her documentary 'Ana'.
  3. Indian Actor Dhanush won Best Actor (Male) for his film in 'Asuran'.
  4. Brazilian actor Lara Boldorini was honoured with Best Actor (Female) for her film in 'On Wheels'.
  5. Jury Special Mention Award was presented to Director Yan Han for his film A Little Red Flower' from China.

2. International Press Institute honours for Journalists of NDTV, The Week 

The International Press Institute (IPI) India on Saturday announced the Award for the Excellence in Journalism 2021 has been awarded to Sreenivasan Jain and Mariyam Alavi of 'NDTV', and Laxmi Subramanian and Bhanu Prakash Chandra of 'The Week'.

Meanwhile, Excellence in Journalism Award 2020 had been awarded to Ritika Chopra of Indian Express.

The Vienna - based International Press Institute (IPI) is a global organization dedicated to the promotion and protection of press freedom and the improvement of journalism practices.

3. Nagaland Police officially launched the 'Call Your Cop' Mobile app for citizens.

Nagaland Police has officially launched the 'Call Your Cop' mobile app at police headquarters in Kohima. This app will enable citizens in the state to get in touch with the police directly with just one click away.

This is an initiative in line with the modernization of the police departments in India.
'Call Your Cop' app has significant features such as alert, directly, SOS, tourists tips, nearest police location and search. This app can be downloaded in Android phones from the google play store.

4. Parliament passes Farm Laws Repeal Bill 2021

On 29 November 2021, the Parliament of India passed the Farm Laws Repeal Bill 2021. The three Farm Laws of the Centre have been repealed by both the houses of the parliament (i.e. Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha), following a year-long protest by farmers against the Union Government of India.

Farm Laws Repeal Bill 2021 was tabled in the Parliament by the Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar.

5. Government of India introduces Unique Face Recognition Technology for Pensioners

Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh has rolled out Unique Face Recognition Technology for pensioners in order to make the process of life certificates for elderly pensioners.

This face recognition technology will act as proof of the life certificate for the pensioners. This will ensure ease of living for the pensioners and retired citizens.

All pensioners are required to submit their life certificate annually in order to receive a pension.

6. Twitter appointed Cheif Technology (CTO) Officer Pawan Agrawal as the next Cheif Executive Officer (CEO)

Twitter's co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey is stepping down as the chief of the social media company. Indian origin Parag Agrawal has been appointed as the new CEO of Twitter.

United Nations on 29 November, every year, celebrates the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian People.

This day is observed to mark the adoption of the UN's resolution to divide Palestine into two states.
